Pain in the rear
« on: August 20, 2009, 04:42:14 pm »
I did get a cheap bicycle last week and decided to take it to work today.
It is about 25 km in one direction. Now that was a painful experience, and still is.
My legs hurts when i stand up and my ass when i sit down. Tomorrow i take the car.

hahahaha that is a pretty decent distance to ride a bike ... 25 km i think is 15 miles and there is a trail that if i start from my house and go to end of the trail and back is 15.1 miles up and down hills thru the woods and stuff ... i skate it 2 - 4 times a week when its nice out to keep my legs in shape for hockey :) i know the pain

but that is NUTS to do that before and after work i would never haha

That is quite a long ride for the first day out!  It is no wonder you hurt like hell.  :) You jumped in head first, but don't give up.  If you hang in there, you'll soon be pedaling through that with ease.

The first days I had my bike, my legs would be wobbly after a three or five mile jaunt.  Now I can blast through 20 miles without really breaking a sweat.  Pace yourself as you ride.  Get your heart rate up to a healthy aerobic rate, and let your cardiovascular system do it's job.  Once you get into a rhythm, you will be traveling much faster than you thought possible.

Junebug mentions something very important.  You must stretch, before and after.  Also hydrating is vital.
