Accelleration showed today. I'm still clueless without it, but flying has become so addicting!

Copied directly from TWIP:)

Well boys, i've done it,

I know i'm nuts, but i just did it, i couldn't stand it any longer.

I bought Active Sky Advanced and bought X Graphics from www.hifisim.com last weekend, ran into a bit of trouble with ASA (active sky advanced) which turned out to be a little serverproblem on theyre part( probably of me registering a legal copy.. as i had one before.. ahem..)

The idea of the main program, Active SKy Advanced, is to simulate real world weather on a level that just cant be beat by Flightsimulator itself.
I haven't explored the program that far yet that i can go into actual "pilot reports" that have been digitized to give warning about certain dangerous weather (seems to work in North America only) but i can confirm that the weather feels darnright real. On my first flight tonight with ASA i took off from Heathrow (whilst the clouds where still beeing built up by the program). It sayd "few clouds at 5000 feet" .. well.. i can honestly say that with FSX, that weatherreport would indeed pop up a "few" (read 6) clouds and theyd look like pieces of cotton wrapped in plastic.  Anyways.. enough slandering, this program handles winds, gusts, turbulence, WAKE turbulence, clouds, skies, updrafts/downdrafts, rain snow ice.. sort of ... well... all weather i guess.

anyways.. enough mumbling, my flight from Heathrow to Manchester whilst enjoying a sunset at between 10.000 and 14.000 feet was a very good one, i grinned from ear to ear. It just looked so.. ehr.. REAL!
In the screenshots however i saw some interlacing (some striping going on, i didn't notice that inside the cockpit.. might also be part of the cockpit casting it's shadows onnit.)
I flew through a cloud and didn't watch my instruments, i lost my way in there, as i looked on the instruments i was banking left and pitching up... yes.. i was flying by the seat of my pants, but if i let go of the stick i'd be dropping and banking right slightly... so i got confused by "some cloud" up there... in that program... but it felt so damn real that confusion...(and i love track ir now!)

So to you Denty... the screenies: (and the rest of you lot ofcourse.. )
(CLICK THE PICTURE!)

oh and .. here's my two favorites just added to this topic, so you can download and analyse:

It's quite awsome, but.. ya gotta wait for it to load a bit. Can take upto 5 mins max for it to completely settle.

I thought it always rained in Manc?   And i also wonder if you can remember the weather of last evening.... as basically this programs turns written weather into visible weather again... i'll have a test with local weather tonight... would be fun to see how "real" it really is... (put your pics of the skies up the coming nights, and put your nearest airport next to it; see if we can make a comparison.. hehehe

@ Casparati:   :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: indeed!

Off to make sandwiches fer werk..

This is not quite it m8.. ran into a bit of a settings issue... i had Xgraphics set at the "valliant" setting.. after i discovered the overcast i reset the setting in XG to default (from the program itself, NOT FSX) and tried again... because i had the ASA program still running i think  the first time it just loaded my default location (for the moment) namely Heathrow, because as soon as i loaded the helo it sayd the "weather fx loading was complete" which was rather fast.. and the weather beeing far more cloudy then you mentioned.. i noticed something was wrong (and started sweating.. lol )  .... so i restarted FSX, dailed in Sheffield and let it load up... slowly things started turning up, a bright sun, some clouds... and then the haze appeared... and i think that by the time i got the yellowbird flying the weather was loaded and hopefully accurate to what you are seeing m8ey...

so here goes.. the first couple of pics are the faulty ones.. but also beautifull..

The weather updates come every 6 hrs as well, usually 0.00, 6.00, 12.00, 1800hrs ZULU time  (i think that was either GMT or GMT -1)

Nice to see it's not completely different, thanks for taking the time drokk!
I'm hoping the first batch of pictures (8 or so) was just that it picked a different location.. i really dont know as i restarted FSX the second time and then it turned out about the same (bit less clouds actually)

ah well.. a fair try eh?

i used your pictures to find the correct colour of the sky where you are at in Xgraphics Drokky, but dusk is setting in and well.. expirimentis  over as that situation is different every night.. lol (and there's too many things to choose from!)

I love the versatility of this program, feels like i can just change the entire look of the scenery with just a few clicks.

OK.. Made a vid... just dont mind the quality, since i dont know how to properly make em, edit em and such, i just grab my camera and tape the damned screen!

Flying just under the clouds and landing rather shockingly on (i think it was)  Carlisle airport in (dont shoot me yet..) Cumbria?   This was with the weather how it seemd to be yesterday, few clouds... (rediculous spreading, felt like it only projected in the direction i was flying!)  as i was holding the camera with my left hand, i couldn't reach the throttle properly, and i wasn't in a trimming mood, so as i lowered the flaps i almost fell short of the airport... did land, but it wasn't that responsibly/neat.. but who cares.. it's only flightsim x.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hYdgO2xEJ0

Flying into Chad now, visibility at 1500 feet 0....... below 1500 all clear... When i had my landing into Rotterdam the fog lifted gradually, here i just drop outtof the clouds and have 20/20 vision... Still did the Approach on the il2 and i'm damned rusty with flying on instruments, i focus on one thing like heading, then i forget that i was giving steeringinput, so i'm banking too rapid... then i'm dropping too fast... then my speed it too low.. you get the picture.. i dont envy real pilots in this kind of weather.. but it's certainly kick a** that i can simulate this from the safety of my home!    So far everytime/flight the weather was different...

Ehr.. but didn't you have troubles with the looks on GTA IV as well?   I know i'm an a-hole... but ehm... might there be something... ehr... i dare not say it... a why the hell not... Wrong with yer puty m8?

On the other hand, i cant say that FSX looks THAT good...  but it's doable... the 3dcockpit, the letters underneath dials and switches seem anoyingly blurred... it might look better with the distance of the camera (as to how i taped it..)  I can just still recognize it as beeing a Microsoft product; i've not seen many "flowing" hills, but then again, they try and map the entire world, and THAT's the great thing about it.
The clouds and stuff just make it more bearable i think..

point three.. i dont really see you sitting back and doing a realtimeflight from Moskow to Berlin actually...

Latest ATI ones.. didnt want to put tweaked drivers this time.. maybe them being tweaked was part of the source for my problems.

(hmm apparently 9.4, if i read it correct..)
