My car
« on: August 10, 2009, 10:47:15 am »
Well i dont know if i have posted a thread on this or not.. I know ive spoken about it.. anyway..

After spending literally all day today cleaning up my car (full inside vacuum, cleaned leather seats with leather stuff (dont know the name) cleaned all the plastic trims and dash... and washed the outside.. Been meaning to do it a for a long time...

I'll post up some interior shots tommorow.

Could do with a slight polish / buff to get the sharp look, however i have "paint protection pack" so i dont actually have to cut and polish it... Probably just needs a nice clear sparkly finish to spary on and buff up a bit.

2008 VW Polo GTI, 1.8lt Turbo about 110kw (157hp) but only 1190 kg. not the fastest thing in a straight line 0 - 100kph in about 7.8 seconds, but in the turns.. oh boy.. very well balanced and so responsive.

I'm fighting the urge to Photoshop a big bird poo right in the middle of the bonnet (that'd be the hood to any non English speakers)  :D

Well done Dion, now if you have some time, i've got one that's nearly getting it's base colour back, but on the carpapers it says it's red...

Nice car Dion, if you need/desire trustworthy info on power upgrades I can direct you to a great engine tuner(not a parts thrower) he knows the difference between safe and stupid(unreliable) modifications.

I think there is one thing we know about Dion - he doesn't need more power to get the job done :)  If he was racing his GTI at SJ we'd throw on worn tyres and 200 kg in the boot.  lol

He doesn't need it, no, but more power and grip would let him pick on even quicker people ;)

Oops, was that an HSV? lol

Hehe, ive taken the hotted up 6cyl commodores and falcons off the lights hehe. But the real fun is in the corners.. Almost no car ive driven against can keep up, I mean my car would probably corner as good or better than our HSV's (which are over 700kg heavier) let alone the fact that i understand proper lines and weight shifting and the physics of how my car (being a FF and all) work... Pretty fun stuff hehe.

The car has a slight oversteering tendancy if you turn in hard and sharp, however if you push mid corner onwards it just understeers slightly... but the mid corner speed is crazy. I havnt found a corner that i cant take at the speed limit and almost impossible to find nice turns on a quiet backstreet that i can take at under 100kph near the limit (over that its just too crazy to be on public roads.... in case anything happens). Dont get me wrong id love an M3 or something of that calibre, but for the price i got this for... definatly not complaining.. maybe once im older and have a house under my name and bit more disposable income i will consider getting a "better" car. As for the upgrades well it uses the same engine as the Audi TT did a few years back, same turbo and everything. It made 220hp out of the box so with a simple chip upgrade i can go from 150 - 220 hp with no extra stress (since the motor was built to handle that anyway) get a Front mounted intercooler + downpipe, bigger intake and air filter with less restrictions, throw in a better exhaust and bam my car will go 0 - 100kph in mid to low 6's and run cooler and more efficent.. (yes ive done my research already hehe). however im not looking to do that just yet..

Anyway here are my interior shots.. Heated seats too hehe for those cold winter mornings

OMG... that's some heavy damage inside there Dion!

Starts with the steeringwheel on the right... must have been a very hard impact!  :innocent:

nice car Dion..............gotta love FWD cars for fun.............i always liked the french stuff for the exellent lift off oversteer tendencies   lol

Talkin of holdens,  heres our HSV eater   (obviously not the trick ones tho)   :grr:

4.4 LTR  VANOS V8  E39 540  great fun to drive pulls like a train..........and undrivable in the wet on NZ roads without the traction control on   :fingers crossed:  the only thing is that being german it doesnt even sound like a V8 until u rev the balls off it...........no one  even knows they are in a v8 unless u tell em............or put ur foot down   lol

Gotta love those germans  its a panzer tank of a car :hats off:    ..........i still dont think ill ever feel totally happy pushing a big RWD car tho..........never quite sure if it wants to kill me or not   :dunno:[/img]
