Thought I would start a thread for music self recorded or other for all the simjunkies who play or just listen. Pete talked me into sharing my tunes with you guys just for the hell of it. I'll throw my hat in. I put new pickups in my 62 Jazz bass clone today. A pair of Seymour Duncan SJB-1 's . They are a vintage series, single coil.

They sound fantastic. My slap playing isn't up to snuff at all but here's me playing along to "Brick House" by the Commodores.

The main tune is a midi file that I edited a little and added my own VST instruments.

I wish I could write like you guys. I have no proper training. I'm at the mercy of my mp3 collection or what ever decent midi's I can find online.

Kramer Grrreat !!! I like the funky slapping Bass alot very cool man wish I could play funk, long time ago I joined an R n B band we did similiar stuff in the 70s long time ago ive forgotten most of the stuff we did now.
But I do remember doing some Earth Wind Fire tunes wow! very cool keep them coming thx bro.

Thought you guys might be interested in a couple more tunes I did with my friends in 1996 home studio stuff was the first cd I recorded of my music it took forever to do but we had a lot of fun doing it. Check it out if you want to I have'nt played this cd in a long time. Damn fastaff, that's really cool. I like the swampy sound. It gives me a Steely Dan vibe too.

Thanks for the nice compliments I really appreciate it. i'm a big Earth Wind & Fire fan myself. I've got a couple playalongs I've done to thier stuff but I'm not happy with the results yet.

Here's one I did after dinner this evening. I found an excellent midi arraingement of Chicago's "Beginnings", again swapping the crap genera midi sounds for VST instruments and playing my Bass along to the result. This time it's the Squier P bass. I'm getting to really like it. when i started playing again last july, I figured myself to prefer Jazz Bass's. This thing is changing that in a big way for me. I'm loving the thump it gives and the airy overtones.

I'm running it direct into the PC using a Presonus Firebox interface, then into a VST plugin called Ampeg SVX. it's an all Ampeg Bass Amp and Cabinet emulator. It's got some awsome sounds. The amp I used on this is the SVT4 Pro and the cab is the venerable ampeg 8x10.

This song is signifcant to me in a lot of ways. I can totally remember being 7 or 8 and cranking this when my parents were'nt home on the family stereo. I'd get out a tennis raquet and Jam some mean air guitar.

I'd practiced this only 2 or 3 times before recording this, and there are some goofs. I'm also not doing a note for note cover. I rarely do, mostly because I usually can't

. This is just me playing what I've been hearing in my head for 40 years of listening to this tune.

Kramer love Chicargo bro one of my favs and that song beginnings really cool and your bass is spot on wish we could hook up and jam man think i'll try something with my Yamaha workststion if I can load it in as a wav or aiff that might just work. Anyway keep them coming your a great bass player and I love your selection of tunes. Really glad we have the Music Corner its a lot of fun to know you guys are all into it thx alot for your support in playing and listening.
Kramer can you do September by E.W.F. I love that tune see if I can add a track to it. That would be cool if I have a problem doing it maybe you can suggest another way,I dont have any software like cakewalk or Qbase just my workstation which actually works fine just takes time to set it up properly. Anyway Im loving it.

Thanks again for the response. I'd love to do something together and I can and do know September. I have an arraingement around here somewhere of it that I did a while ago. I've been meaning to revisit it.

Let me know what you need, I can provide individual tracks or a mix minus whatever in wav aiff or whatever you'd need.

Great I just fired up my old beast Yamaha workstation but have learn it all over again its been that long.Anyway Im reading up on importing audio files I have'nt done it that much before I just recorded everything myself no sampling at all,

old wave I guess. Anyway i'll figure it out somehow gives me a new project to do. I will let you know more about the format when I read about which is the best one to use, I think its wav ive used before works best.
