S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear sky
« on: October 21, 2008, 07:36:57 am »
Have any of you guys played this game yet? I am about 10 hours into the single player, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the way throught the game maybe. It is just like the original, except it takes place before. Most of the maps are the same, you will find that you visit all the same places, but this time you can walk into the area freely, you do not have the entire base shooting at you. There are alot more factions to be friendly with (or make enemies), bandits control the entire garbage area and take all you money if you pass through a check point  :grrr:, the daylight and weather are dynamic, and the game is still just scary as all hell. I made it into the zombie area about 10 min in, now I just had to surf the web for a bit and post on this site to calm myself down, the game is just too damn spooky at night with mutants chasing you!

I've gotten pretty much to the end of the game & enjoyed up to a point where I had to "cross a bridge". From there on it seem's so obvious that the game wasn't finished properly & was rushed  :grrr: Have given up on the game now, as the last segment of the game at the power plant , has pissed me off to a point where I with I had cd version & could smash the disk to smithereens :) (purchased off steam)

Few bug's & CTD's for me . If they could iron out the bugs & Add some trader's after Liminsk & tiedy up the last mission it would be a pretty good game.

If you still have some playing to do on the original, do not get this game yet. It is too much like to original to justify buying if that is the case. It is more of the second half to the original. (I would play the orignal again, but for some reason it plays extrely choppy and I can not figure out why) I still have only come acrost about 2 artifacts, and they were basicaly given to me. I do not know how to find them in this game, they seem far more hard to find now.

You need to get a better detector, dont recall its name, but mine cost 1500 RU.  You have to have it held in your hand (on screen) when near anomolies, and it'll show up a dot indicating the location of the artifact.  Artifacts are hidden in some anomolies, hence why you dont see them.  I've had about 5 or 6 of them, and only just made it to the zombies section.  Makes buying better shit easier.

Man I wish the zombies couldnt remember how to use an assault rifle!!

Yeah, I just watch a few youtube videos, I am too far into the game now to turn back and get such a thing, maybe on another play through. As for the zombie part, I wish that it was longer and a little more simmilar to the first one. I realy enjoyed the zombies the first time around.

Im currently in the Red Forest and just struggling to keep myself alive..I finally upgraded my suit to something "good" only to be broke and still getting my arse kicked. I was doing better with my fully upgraded suit I was given at the beginning despite this suits much better stats. I guess I may have to trek back to where I stashed it.

Well I finished the game last night and I have a few thought on it.

This game is much harder than the previous one. The enemies are more gernade happy and they are very good throws. I sometimes throw gernades, but I often miss, they are always dead on, even if they have only heard me. You have more mutants thrown at you at once in the red forest than anywhere else, and it becomes hard just to stay alive. The levels are much harder in the forest and last level. To beat the last 10 min, I had to enable god mode because I had no more health packs, nor could I find any anywhere.

The end was dissapointing to me. I played all that way and only realized it was the end a few seconds after I did the last thing that I needed to do. Off to a min or 2 long cut scene, and then there were credits (as I understand, there is only one ending). A game of this size should at least give us more at the end, a cut scene around 3 min long with a peek at places we have only heard about, like the C-Conscious operating, or another faction ploting, or something. I just find it sad that a game that can be story driven at times wraps things up with a short ending that shows you something you know will happen anyways.

Well I enjoyed the game, if you liked the first, you will like this one. Overall, it was fun and different. I wish it had more underground areas, but some assults on areas were fun and made you think.

Did anyone join any Factions? I could have joined the Loners or Freedom but thought it might be best to stay neutral just in case things went bad(I know Duty asked me to clean out some loners in the Garbage tho I didn't do it)
