Medal of Honor:Airborne
« on: October 13, 2007, 08:20:16 am »
Ok now that i have tested the game i might giva ya a little peak of what it is about.

If you have played some of the MOH games befor you all know what this is.
WW2 and you are one of the lucky bastards that are in the midst of it.

As you might have guessed you are a part of the Airborne division, and at the start of the missions you always jump out of a plane, after spending some few minutes(seconds) of flight and being shot at. When out in the air you try to guide your chute towards the green smoke and hopefully you get a good landing.

Gameplay:
good stuff. the camera movements and camera effects makes this look really good and it is the first game that makes me feel the "next gen" effect when running about.
Hiding, crouching, advancing when shooting all feels good, though i do get the impression that you might aswell just run and blast like Rambo did in his golden days. I will not do that even though i can, because i actually find this game to be very fun and i do not wanna ruin it just because i can.
Grendes are a nice thing to throw at the enemy, but not so nice when they throw it at you, but you can either throw it back or kick it away if in the right position for it.
If you round a corner and surprise the bastard Nazi he wil just start to swing at ya, if you are a bit unaware he will slap you to death.
Hit him back of course and you should do fine.

Graphics:
Niiiiice.
Really good looking textures and caracters, buildings and lighting makes this look as dark as the night in a world war should be. Could be a bit demanding on the system, but not as much as lets say GRAW2.(it is a bit different layout on the games, but you get the idea of system needs.)
effects are nice and shooting a fueldump is looking like you are shooting a fueldump.

LIKES:
the way i feel when i play the game. I really wanna shoot the bastards so i can move forward and finish my objective.
graphics is beautiful, and gameplay feels good.

DISLIKES:
Not sure yet, i know many is growing tired of the series and you might feel that you have been in the scene before.
I have not been playing MOH since the third one on ps2(or was it the second one) so i feel like starting a whole new thing in the series.

If you like MOH series, or CoD series, you will like this aswell.
For example i would recommend this ove CoD2 any day.

Now this is something that i might be more interested in, You can jump to any location on the map.. the objectives are up you in which order you wanna deal with them.. so not only running in a pipe.. yes.. i will try this. Im hoping this would give me the same feeling the very first MOH game on PS1 did.. yeah boys.. this series was first for the consoles, then it moved to pc. :)

worst game I have ever bought. I wish I could have 5 minutes alone with the idiots that made this game. What a waste of time.

Come oooon, some justification? The reason im looking more to this than the latest COD is cause this might give more option and less scripted events.. that what ive heard anyway..

Oh yeah, i forgot about that, you can jump to any location as far as the chute will float ya. that is good stuff. and you can do the game as you please. as long as you take all the objectives they do not care about how or when you do it.

I will send you my copy. Horrible frame rates a patch that didn't address any of the in game issues. Tracer rounds on every weapon that leave vapor trails. Multiplayer only can hold around 14 people or so. Weapons like rifles are over powered, machine guns under, and nades have a blast radius of about 1 foot.

No thanks. Please post your address if you want my copy.

How can a deadly rifle be over powered?  :jawdrop:
Sounds like i love it then! I HATE it when they make guns shoot peanuts! hehe.
I think it would cost way much to send it to europe.. but thanks for the offer.
I hope the fps issues are only on some systems.. indeed its more irritating than nothing when they release half finished products :(

Hey..I am trying to spare others from making the same mistake I did..but go ahead man. You must have more money than me.

Here is the petition to refund peoples money for those that bought the game.
http://www.petitiononline.com/moha123/petition.html

Also..here is a review in which it only gets an 80 out of 100.
http://computergames.ro/en/games/viewitem/id/425/name/medal-of-honor-airborne/section/review.html

And if you don't believe me..go to PlanetMedalofHonor and read the forum reviews.

FPS issue?

Wtf? i run the game medium to max on 60 fps +.
how can that be wrong?
It is ok that you do not like the game m8.
I would advice you to put it up in a proper manner m8.

There are as many games as there are opinions and i would like to keep this tread a bit more then" crappy shit i hate it"

Write your dislikes and shove in some likes aswell, i know there must be someone.

Oh. and a 7.62 rifle is a powerful weapon m8. you should try to shot by one
Thats the way it should be.
Difference of opinion m8. thats all. i did not like Cod2 all that much and i never finished it after i did the desert levels. and i did not play it online unfortunately.

My point is... if you hate a thing. gimme a good explanation of why and then maybe others can make up their mind after that?

The FPS issue I am talking about is due to a bug in the multiplayer code.

Here are a few of my dislikes:
No going prone.
Walking silently with the gun raised to look down iron sights is not coded.
6 maps
unrealistic effective range on weapons
Friendly or teammate AI stand in your way or don't help
Enemy AI disregard anyone other than you
No M1 carbine
Floating objects in maps

etc...

What do I like..

the soundtrack
the parachute-in option..

hmmm 80/100 is not bad at all.. Is there a demo? Might try that.. Im not planning to play it on multiplayer.. theres so much more better games for online action anyway.. never really liked any of these later arcade shooters in multiplayer.

EDIT:Only 121 one people has signed the petition...

The demo installer causes immediate hard boot for me.. Tried even to extract it with winrar but immediately when i try to start the install it will hard boot my pc... oh well.. not too bothered.. theres too many fps games anyway.

Red Orchestra has ruined me of WW2 fps. It is prolly the best ever IMO and makes pretty much all others to arcadish.

Im so saddened about it, the raise of player limit has made the game so heavy that its hard for me to enjoy.. (its about processor.. same low fps on some maps no matter what detail settings) I just gotta hope for a new pc soon.. Then i can play RO again properly! :)

Hmm that was weird.. well anyway.
I had crash after crash in this game when i started the second level. The weird part is that i could play the first on fine, but when loading the second required me to update my gfx drivers, and after that it was fine. weird stuff since i already had played it :)
And yes yes yes. this is not what i would call a online game at all. but i do like the single player game.
hopefully i will feel the other way around in cod4
