That'll be a must buy for me.  As far as single player fps's go, Far Cry 1 was the best one I've played.  I loved it.  I didn't like the multiplayer part of it as much though.  Hopefully they can do a better job of that this time.  More variety in the game types, and allowing you to chose the weapon that you spawn in with would fix the multiplayer game.  I hate it when you spawn in with a crappy pistol and then you have to look around for a better gun (and usually getting killed before you find one).

loved farcry... never tried the official mod... this looks cool...

until the stupid monsters were everywhere i thought farcry was the best single player experience FPS too, the merc's on higher skills are really good to play against...

Farcry was Great, for the time very impressive. I'll get the second but I can wait. Crysis should be fantastic. I watched some of videos they made, VERY cool.

Oh yeah James, you should be able to find it somewhere dirt cheap, when it came out I thought it was worth it full price.

Yeah mate.
It was very much worth the price. I played it through 3 times and never did mod it. It is installed now and probably around 85% through. I haven't continued it in months though.
Anyway, check it out until FC2. IMO, one of the best shooters ever made.
Kinda got me wanting to finish it, again.

Ok. well.....

I have played a few missions and arsed around on the map, wich is HUUUGE, and looks as sweet as anything else these days.
Real time day/night (a bit accelerated maybe but hey)

The story is simple. you are a hired gun, you are in africa to kill an arms dealer, but things go bad, You have malaria real bad and need medecine, wich you will need to refill as the cap runs empty. (you will notice when it is time for a new pill)

Healing is a good feature, and if you drop to low in health you will also need to patch yourself or pull out your pliers and retract bullets from a nasty hole in your body.
Cinematics really but fail to do it and you die. ( unless you have a good friend(will leave that for you to find out)

You can travel by foot, car or boat as far as I have seen, Different cars and even trucks are available, You need to buy weapons or steal from bodies, But stolen weapons vary in quality, rust and dust on the gun will actually result in rapid jams wich is very annoying during fights....
For the ones in here who have tried Americas Army will know that it is very lethal.

I enjoy this game to the fullest, and the missons around on the map is very good so far.
If you liked FarCry, you will love this.
Forget Crysis. And Crysis warhead. This is the game you want to play.

I leave a video of the first mission I played, wich is to take out the chief of police.

Pay attention to the details if you can. Specially when I fire a rocketlauncher. Just take a look at what the backfire does. I did not get it before I turned around. That is a feature that is very very nice in my opinion.

Just enjoy this short clip and tell me you do not want the game :)

Ok, this here is to add to the mini-review I gave above.

I will try to give some more insight on the gameplay.

As you already know if you have seen my video, the graphics are some of the best available today.
The map is very very big indeed and due to all the new technology of today, there are no loading points for this map.
Also no lagging when walking/driving/"boating" around as some games might do. Yes some of us knows Test drive unlimited :(

Weapons of choice:

There is a long list, but the ones I know is, and I leave out the names on most as they are numbers and I am no weapons freak (yeah right)
Shotgun pump action
G3 assault rifle
Makarov handgun (same as S.T.A.L.K.E.R)
Handgun (suppose some Colt automatic)
Uzi (as we liked to call it in the 80`s)
PK machinegun
RPG
Rocketlauncher
Sniper rifles......
And still there is a looooong list of wich I have had no time to get yet.

Molotovs ( nice thing to start a bush fire with )
Hand grenades.
Manchete, (good for slashing)

The way you get all these are to buy then via a guns-dealer. Or steal them from the baddies you shoot.
If you buy them you will have an unlimited supply of them in the shed next to the gunsdealer. There are many gun dealers around the world so you should have no problems.
If you steal them you had better watch out for lock-ups, wich really is a baaaaaad thing in a gun fight.

I have had my guns being hit by enemy bullets, leaving them useless, and the character just throws them away.
this is a nice thing. I liked that feature. All in all the guns are very good modelled, and they sound pretty good.
having usen the big brother of G3 (Ag3) I must say that sound here is quite quite good indeed, even the "cock slider" (no no, i do not mean pu**y) sounds like they do in real life.

Money is shit in Africa, the thing that matters is, yes diamonds. And you will ned some of them. They can be found around the world in briefcases or you get them from contractors before or after doing a job.

that was some of the basics.

You will soon notice that "lean left/right" is not present in this game, wich is HIGLY unrealistic and annoying since all the newer shooters have it, it is a natural way of holding cover and popping out to fire a few.
This is an OLD SCHOOL SHOOTER when it comes to movements. Not that it is bad at that, but it could have been sooooooooo much better.
Taken some of the cover features from RAINBOW SIX VEGAS 1&2, put it in here an BOOM, you have added 100% more immersion(spelling) to the game.

Anyway, you get used to the system pretty quick.

Driving vehicles in this game is quite a joy, as it was in FarCry 1 and Crysis.
They look good and physics is quite nice or a shooter game.
When they break you fix, as seen in my video ate the start. Again like the "use pliers to pull out bullets from holes in body" it is only easy cinematics, but again, fail to do so and the car/boat will eventually catch fire and explode.
And we all know that it might hurt a bit when being inside an exploding vehicle. Not to be tried at home.

And as I am writing this I see   Total Members: 999 NICE SIMJUNKIES :)

Anyway.
You have to make some friends. You do so pretty quick, and they seems to be some of the characters you are able to choose from when you start playing. Nicely done actually.
You will need these friends as they can mysteriously save you from dying many times.

There is a lot for you to explore, and riding along in the jungle is a treat, had it not been for the fact that everybody is shooting at you whenever they see you. A bit shit really as I think that everybody cannot know you as an enemy right from the start.
But anyways, the savanna hosts wildlife as well, gaselles have been sighted and shot:)

you will spend many many hours in here just roaming and killing. getting safe-houses in wich you can sleep as shown in my video. Looking and roaming the scenery in different times of the day is simply beautiful.

This is a game for all FPS lover to get.
You simply cannot go worng in my opinion. If you plan on getting just one FPS more before GTA IV release for PC, this is the one.
Really.
THIS IS THE ONE.

Only north americans can buy via Stea,. just like Far Cry was a free download, but only for NA people.
Bastards. Well, as it is a "montreal" produced game I guess they are in title, buts still bastards.

Go get it in the shop, you will not regret it PETE. :)

Nope.

I will leave the online play for now as Deathmatch and shit like that really do not give me anything.

But I will try the map editor when I can release myself from playing.

@ Jarkko.

Impress you or not. I dunno. All I can say is that I am enjoying it a lot.
The story line is ok enough, but it is the free roam, open ended sandbox play that I enjoy the most. Do what you want when you want to. And follow the missions as you see fit.
Go to sleep to wake up in the night to sneak about and do stealth kills with manchete or sniper rifle.

You do NOT have to follow the story line like Far cry 1 and Crysis and similar games to move around.
After you finish the first "training" part of the game, wich you will anyway since it is the start of the game, you are free to do what you like.

there is soooo much to explore and the time difference makes you wanna do it again on a different time of the day.

BTW 1 minute gamplay = 5 minutes virtual-world time. So not bad at all I should say.
