CRYSIS Full Game
« on: March 15, 2008, 07:37:31 am »
ok so i finally broke down and got a copy of Crysis...actually a used one for $20 on eBay...i wasnt so sure if id like it but something inside of me wanted to see all the work and cash ive invested in my rig could actually handle it...dont get me wrong i LOVE shooters...and you know what....Crysis is pretty damn good... it runs superior on Direct X 9 instead of 10 which every where on the web people says it plays absolutely framey and glitchy which exactly was the case when i tried to run it at all FULL settings at 2450x1600 resolution on my Dell 30" with a geForce 8800 Ultra...at directx 9 the graphics are still mind blowing...im gonna run more tests tomorrow after i install some more cooling for my 8800 as i believe the immense heat it spews is keeping my system from truly embracing the game in its full graphical glory...like Bioshock, its innovative and not easy but youll find yourself unable to pull yourself away from it....i have not fully completed the game yet as there isnt a rush like alot of other shooters and you can go as you wish since its basically open world exploring...and tactically there are many ways to go about a mission with your mass amount of weapons and "suit" powers. If you can handle the requirements and then some, then get it. not a "finished it in one evening type of shooter that seems to be the new standard.
if anyone has any questions about the game ask me here.

I got this on the 1st week of release after being impressed with the demo... It is very very "Far Cry" in my opinion, but graphically absolutely superior to anything else at the moment. What frustrated me though was, yes you can shoot an oil drum or a tree and something will happen.. shoot a crab on the beach or a bird in the sky and something will happen.. Shoot a corpse on the ground just to make sure he's dead and nothing, not like the half life series or a few others where they use "ragdoll physics" ( I think )
I have completed the game and i took my time with it, so i dont want to spoil the plot for you Punkpigpen. It gets a bit silly toward the end, But overall i liked it and it is a great game for people with high end machines, for people with lower spec machines i reckon it would be quite run of the mill.

I'm waiting for assassin's creed to be released now :)

Good graphics. Indeed, but i really wished it had more going for it.
There is nothing in the game that you really have not seen before, and so it tends to get a bit boring.
I liked the game, but i am afraid it did not even like it enough to finish it.
Well, maybe when i get bored some night, but i an a bit picky on FPS.

Did you play Far Cry? If you did, how much?

(The demo seemed to be too much like Far Cry with couple new tricks and new graphics.. not good)

Just downloaded Far Cry and Bioshock, just wanted to try them and see what it's all about.

Agreed, it looks awesome, but it maintains a "gamey" look to it.

I dunno, but I feel that the less detailed, older games look better as they are... Ehh... I can't put my finger on it... Overdone? It seems as though they try too hard with it.

I don't think its about the game, i think its more an exercise to show what they can do. Its just a digitally remastered Far cry  :nose:

I also love playing shooters, and Crysis is awsome, I played the crap out of the beta and the demo.  Playing COD-4 also.  Shooters have just gotten a little borring, the multi player is the same old thing and if you have nothing to drive or fly ( like cod-4 ) it gets old fast.

I am looking into getting a copy of Front lines- Fuel of war, may have to reinstall BF2

DO NOT get Frontlines.
I have it and it is utter crap IMO.

Well if you have love for battlefield you might find it slightly intresting.....

crysis... son completed it in no time flat... tbh, i'm getting a li'l frustrated that developers think it's fine to steal my kid's money for a glorified demo (as was also the case with cod4)  :grrr:

Got to agree.
And since the MP sessions is something we have seen before and not very good, i feel like being sodomised.....

Online COD4 is quite good though.

COD4 is shorter than Crysis...both are great.
