Yeah i cant take games like that anymore.. they are made for younger people anyway obviously who hanvent played that many shooters and still accept this sorta "routine job" games.
I guess the term is "burger games for masses".

I have been playing COD4 on a 'tactically modded' server.  Normal run speed.  Rules are crouch or walking with sights up.  Only running allowed is cover to cover, or under smoke.  The game is quite enjoyable that way.

I do wish for a more realistic shooter.

I didn't ditch it.  lol I just got fed up with the updating, and the updating, and the patching, and the modding.  Then I could never find a server with people on it.  Then when I did, it was a five mile walk to the battle.  It was great fun with you guys though!!!

I got COD5 for free and have to say I'm enjoying the campaign mode, what little I've played of it. Though I do fall into the category of "hasn't played much FPS". The only other one I've played is half life 1&2 and golden eye/perfect dark. rofl

Very good looking game, watching the aircraft battle overhead and calling in rocket strikes makes me want a game that combines the two genres, how cool would that be? SJ could really take over the world then, heh.

Been meaning to check it out, but usually FPS don't tickle my fancy too much. Any links to good video of the vehicular side of things?

It may not be realistic, but the best shooter I've played is Gears of War 2 on the XBox... absolutely friggin awesome, and laugh-out-loud funny.  Gun's got a chainsaw on the end of it, and we're talking big chunks!  Bought it for my youngest at Christmas (ignore the 18 certificate... it's just gratuitous comic book violence) and he is having a whale of a time on XBox Live  (which is also very good, by the way).  Essential game!

Just wanted to put a little headsup.. this beta had 2 of the worst maps in the game combined with the worst online gamemode.. and tadaa the image you get is quite different from the final product.
It has plenty of good gamemodes, very good maps and even some slower pace action.
Single player is utter crap though, so was Modern Wombat.

(some of ya loved that one also though.. i guess you just love running through a pipe full of enemies all targeting at player and mega heavy scripting leaving absolutely no room for dynamic gameplay..)
lol

but yeah for multiplayer purposes i reckon this is pretty entertaining.. at least for now.. dont know how long it will keep me interested.

Well.. i saw theres a crack for the new patch allready.. so bought a legitimate cd key from http://www.g2play.net and downloading the "backup" version of the game..
Should work fine with my legitimate cd-key.. its apparently all legal also.. Valve and others have commented on g2play but havent been able to legally point their business wrong.
Theres some games that you can activate and download from steam and ea download manager also, very cheap.
I have purchased few titles.. (both steam and ea store) and they all work fine.. this is my first test how it works when you have to download cracked version to go with your cd key,
hopefully ok.. problem is many games dont get cracks for their latest patches, but cod5 seems to be an exception.

EDIT:Forgot to mention, so games are german (that means cut) versions, so read carefully what you buy. (first game i got there was L4D steam, didnt read carefully so got the bloody cut version)
