Yes, Bioshock has stopped me playing BF2. I'm shattered, I need a plasmid.

Same here.
I thrashed the original System Shock & systemshock 2 (even though it ran like a hairy bollocked dog due to slow system) Do you need Vista to run it?

Here is my system specs.

Abit 9 pro mobo (intel 775 socket)
p4 3.0 ghz 1mb cache.
2,5gb ram (corsair 2x 1gb 1x 512mb)
powercolor x1950pro 256 ddr3

I run the game on max settings at about 30-40 fps. wich actually seems to float alot better then the frames tell me.

And i run it in XP. will not even think about going vista until i really neeeeeed to.

It is a damn good game yes.
looks sweet aswell

I mentioned on comms last night that even for a non FPS player, this game is a thing of beauty to be involved in.
I'm in the very early stages as I spend too much time wandering around just enjoying the artwork :)

It's true that Bioshock is beautiful, a cracked and dangerous beauty.

I find it is also a deep examination of a rampant free market society and science gone mad to meet that societies needs/desires.

So much chaos.

Would you recommend it to someone like me who is not a fan of  science fiction games?

With a reserve.. It is... quite unique. But i must say the story is extremely interesting,
and it has lot of lot of great stuff in it.
Saying scifi would be awfully wrong.. something like Retro sci-fi with a twist might be close. :)

there's not a spaceship in sight.

but there are lots of genetic monsters with plastic surgery scars.

More like real life then science fiction.

As a game it rocks. It's half first person shooter and 1/4 adventure. The other 1/4 I'm still working out. I like the pace. It's amazing.

Had to get this as a xmas pressie for myself.
Loading up Bioshock & playing for an hour was like putting on an old favourite coat. Especially after the hours spent on Sytem shock & Sytem shock 2.

Bioshock contains all the goodness of it's predecessors & more. Interesting upgradable familiar weapons   , revolver, shotgun, grenade launcher ,crossbow etc ,plasmid weapons (fueled by "eve" which is rechargable ) such as telekinesis, fire , electric shock..
The abilty to "hack "safes, bot turrets , security camera's, vending machines (for ammo, first aid , upgrade its etc), the ablity to upgrade weapons, increase damage , distance etc.Just pure magic.

Interesting to note Bioshock has been nominated for a couple of gaming bafta awards http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12883

Time to go battle with a "big daddy" I need the "eve" form his "little sister "to futher my plasmid's ... :)

Bioshock is hands down the BEST first person shooter ever... i have it on the Xbox 360... but sadly i got the red rings of death and the console is currently dead.
